New Delhi : The capital's 'killer' Blueline buses were at it again. An over-speeding Blueline bus late Thursday hit a motorcycle in east Delhi, grievously injuring the driver and pillion rider.
The accident occurred in east Delhi's main arterial Vikas Marg. The bus, plying on Route No 374, hit the motorcycle from behind. The two-wheeler riders were admitted to the Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital in a critical condition.
Both the bus driver and the conductor fled from the spot. The motorcycle driver was identified as Yogesh while the pillion rider's identity was not known.
The bus was going from Nand Nagari to Nehru Place.
The accident comes barely four days after a Blueline rammed into half a dozen vehicles at a traffic crossing in Rajouri Garden, killing an 11-year-old boy and injuring six.
The accident had kicked up a lot of heat with people demanding action against Blueline operators, forcing Chief Minister Shiela Dikshit to assure that the private buses would soon be phased out.
At present, there are around 4,500 Blueline buses in the city.
