Jakarta : French football legend Zinedine Zidane called on Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono in the state palace Friday as part of his tour to promote the sport among children.
Wearing a traditional Batik top and jeans, the three-time World Footballer of the Year, accompanied by members of Indonesia's under-13 team, juggled a ball in front of the president.
"It's my first visit to Indonesia, and I'm pleased to be here," Zidane told Yudhoyono.
"I do hope your visit will increase your understanding about Indonesia," Yudhoyono replied.
The 35-year-old footballer is scheduled to attend an international tournament for children sponsored by French food manufacturer Danone during his July two-day visit here.
The trip coincides with the start of the Asian Cup which Indonesia is co-hosting, July 7.
