Berlin : German police launched a major raid against 22 suspected members of the outlawed Kurdish 'Kongra Gel' organization in three German states, Bavaria, Baden-Wuerttemberg and North Rhien Westfalia, media reports said Thursday.
The suspects are accused of ideologically and financially supporting the so-called 'People's Congress of Kurdistan', the prosecutor's office in Munich announced.
An arrest warrant was issued against a leading member of the group who lives in the vicinity of Munich.
Kongra Gel has been linked to at least nine fire-bombings against Turkish offices in Germany.
Last April, police in the south German state of Bavaria made a sweep on 35 homes and clubs of sympathizers of the illegal Turkish Workers' Party (PKK) and its successor organization known as 'Kongra- Gel'.
The raid involved 35 objects which included private homes and clubs in the area of Nuremberg and Ingolstadt where propaganda material, computers, cell phones, laptops and financial receipts were confiscated.
German police have repeatedly raided countrywide homes and offices of PKK supporters.
The PKK and its sub-organizations have been banned in Germany since November 1993 for "endangering domestic security".
