"We have 100 people killed and some 120 wounded in the attack on the outdoor market in the village of Amerli near Tuz-Khurmato town," the source said, citing a report from the provincial health directorate.

Earlier, the source reported 20 deaths and 40 injuries from the attack, but said the toll might rise higher as the explosion devastated many nearby buildings, which probably buried a large number of people.

A booby-trapped truck detonated at the crowded outdoor market in the mixed Shiite, Kurdish and Turkoman village of Amerli, near the Tuz-Khurmato town, 90 km east of Tikrit, according to the source who spoke on condition of anonymity.
