Musharraf, Shaukat Aziz should resign after SC decision: APDM leaders

Islamabad : The Jojunt Action Committee of All Parties Democratic Movement has demanded of immediate resignation of President Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz after Supreme Court verdict in favour of Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry.

This stated by the APDM leaders Raja Zafarul Haq, Qazi Hussain Ahmad, Iqbal Zafar Jhagra, Mahmood Khan Achakzai, Ahsan Iqbal and Cal, Azhar in their joint news conference on Saturday.

On this occasion, Qazi Hussain Ahmad said there is darkness everywhere in the country but the Supreme Court decision created new spirit among the people, adding that it is day of thanks and prays.

He termed the Supreme Court verdict as decision of giving freedom to pressed people from brutal powers.

He said that army and people were being fought against each other in the entire country.

Qazi Hussain Ahmad went on to say that innocent and poor children were killed in operation against Lal Majid and Jamia Hafsa.

He said that President Musharraf had become President twice illegally and unconstitutionally and wanted to re-elect himself as President in uniform but it would be test case for the Supreme Court.

The MMA President strongly condemned President Bush statements about taking action against Al-Qaeda operatives in Pakistani territories, adding that the US has been committing aggression in Pakistan since long on name of Al-Qaeda.

He urged the nation to unite to foil foreign conspiracies against the country.

To a question, he said that the US wanted to create such situation in Pakistan to make logic its direct invention in that country.

Qazi Hussain Ahmad said that several teams of lawyers have been set up to challenge re-election of Gen. Musharraf and uniform issue in Supreme Court.

Addressing the news conference, Raja Zafarul Haq said that Nawaz Sharif would be in country before upcoming general elections.

To a question, Raja Zafarul Haq said big public meetings would be held in Quetta on August 9 and in Rawalpindi on August 14 and the joint committee would chalk out its strategy on July 23.
