Ranchi : Excitement gripped Ranchi as "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows", the seventh edition of the Harry Potter series, was released in the city early Saturday.
"We have booked around 200 copies of the seventh edition of Harry Potter. The readers are not only children but also older people. More than 20 percent of the bookings are by older people," said Pradeep Kumar Burman, owner of Gyan Deep bookstall.
"Throughout the night I was thinking about the latest edition. I have come to know from newspapers and news channels that this will be the last edition and the protagonist will die. I think this will be the most exciting in the series," said Rinki Kumari a Class 9 student.
Many children are waiting for the Hindi versions of the fifth, sixth and the latest book. The earlier ones were translated into Hindi. "I cannot read English and am anxiously waiting for the Hindi version of the last three books of the series," said Manoj Kumar, a Class 12 student.
Bookshop owners point out that although there is a demand for the Hindi version of Harry Potter, the English version is still very popular. On an average, 25 to 30 Hindi versions are sold in year while Potter lovers buy 400 copies of the English version.
