New Delhi : Two suspected terrorists of Manipur's outlawed Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) have been arrested here for their alleged role in terror activities in the north-eastern state, police said Thursday.
The Delhi Police Special Cell arrested the self-styled chairman of KCP, Mangol, 33, and vice-chairman Oinam Suranjoy Singh, 30, after conducting a raid at the Azadpur fruit market area in northwest Delhi Wednesday afternoon.
Police said the two were involved in "terrorist activities" including extorting money from the government and private agencies in Manipur.
Mangol told the police that he was also the president and chief of army staff of KCP. "He joined it in 2001," Deputy Commissioner of Police Alok Kumar said.
In May 2007, KCP kidnapped an education officer from Bishnupur area of Manipur and released him after taking a ransom of Rs.500,000. In June, he sought Rs.5 million from cement companies, asking them to pay in instalments, Kumar added.
