Ashok Kumar Sharma, a hospital attendant in the army, filed his reply to the notice before the division bench of Justices Vikramjit Sen and S.L. Bhayana. The court went through the reply and reserved its order for pronouncement Saturday.

During the hearing of his petition seeking direction to the government to set aside his dismissal by the army, Sharma had Thursday had pointed his finger at the judges and said, "both judges are gadhas (donkeys)".

The court had immediately directed the court security officers to arrest him.

Sharma's case challenging his dismissal by the army on charges of misbehaviour and misconduct had been dragging on for three years.

A few months back, another dismissed army soldier had abused Justice Swatanter Kumar, now Chief Justice of Bombay High Court, for dragging his case for three years.

However, Justice Swatanter Kumar did not order for his prosecution but disposed of the petition hearing expeditiously. The soldier from Agra had also alleged that they did not get justice in the court after being harassed by higher ups in the army.

The bench had issued show-cause notice to him and asked him to file his reply for such behaviour in the court.

"Sharma was charged with contempt of court as he disturbed the functioning of the court and used derogatory languages with the intention of 'scandalising' and lowering the authority of the court and also interfering with the administration of justice," the court had said in an order.
