In a telephonic conversation with Tasneem Qidwai of Urdu daily Hindustan Express published Friday, Qureshi demanded the Andhra Pradesh government include Capt (Retd.) Bharat Verma's statement made during a discussion on Janmat news channel soon after the blast, in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) enquiry into the blast.

During the Janmat discussion, Defence publications specialist Lancer's chief executive Bharat Verma, who retired as a captain in the Indian army, had made a sensitive revelation, within four hours of the blast, that the Makkah Masjid blast could well have been the planned attack made by the forces that are eager to establish Khilafat via the medium of Wahhabism not only in India but in the entire world.

Qureshi emphasised that the anti-Islam Zionist mentality is quite apparent in the said statement of Bharat Verma. "By presenting this far-fetched theory Bharat Verma made the Makkah Masjid blast an internal affair of the Muslims. It aimed at giving way to strife and bloodshed among Muslims by fanning sectarian differences among the community members and thus at breaking the unity of Muslims," he said without mincing any word and added that the theory of establishing Khilafat via the medium of Wahhabism was hatched by the Zionists.

Qureshi urged the Muslim leaders to exert pressure on the Government of India as well as the Government of Andhra Pradesh to include the said statement of Bharat Verma in the CBI enquiry into the Makkah Masjid blast and to grill Verma to know on what basis he made such a sensational statement and what is the source of his theory.
