Indian cine buffs to savour Israeli movies

New Delhi : Indian moviegoers will have an opportunity to enjoy eight top Israeli films during a four-day Israeli film festival, which begins in the Indian capital Monday.

The films – "Two States of Mind", "Things Behind the Sun", "Aviva My Love", "Tied Hands", "Three Mothers", "A Working Mom", "Provence United" and "Watermarks" – would showcase a wide array of characters and probe various themes ranging from politics and diplomacy to relationships and emotional turmoil.

"Two States Of Mind" portrays the lives of two actresses, an Israeli from Tel Aviv and a Palestinian from Ramallah, who are invited to participate as a team in a jeep rally in Morocco. The film narrates their roller coaster journey through despair, humour, courage, and politics.

"Things Behind the Sun" narrates the incidents in the life of a character Itzhak who decides to visit his dying father after a gap of ten years but discovers an old family secret.

"Aviva My Love" is the story of a hard-working hotel cook, in the small northern Israeli town of Tiberius, who is finally on the brink of fulfilling her lifelong dream of becoming a writer. But her journey to greatness affects not only her life but also the lives of her family members.

"Tied Hands" beautifully projects a sensitive and complex relationship between a mother and her dying son. "Three Mothers", is the story of three women who live together in Israel and are searching for a lost son of one of them who was given away for adoption under mysterious circumstances.

"A Working Mom" portrays a character Marisa Villozial who left her 3-year-old son and infant daughter with her parents in Bolivia and travelled to Israel to look for a job. After 15 years, she decides to reunite with them.

"Provence United" is a comedy about soccer addicts and "Watermarks" narrates the story of the champion women swimmers of the legendary Jewish sports club Hakoah Vienna.
