Orissa girls create record in Class 12 exams

Bhubaneswar : Girls in Orissa have created a record by occupying all but one position among the 20 highest scorers in the Class 12 state board exams, the results for which were declared Friday.

A total 124,597 students had appeared in the examination conducted by Orissa's Council of Higher Secondary Education in March.

Kasturi Swain of Buxi Jagabandhu Junior College, Bhubaneswar, emerged the topper, securing 879 marks out of 900.

"I want to be an officer of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS)," Kasturi told IANS when asked about her goals and aspirations.

Sibananda Mishra from Khallikote Junior College in Berhampur in Ganjam district was the lone boy who found place among the top 20 scorers. He secured 811 marks.
