Sources said Mohamed al-Sweirki, 31, of Gaza was Sunday night killed after falling down from the 15th floor of the tallest building in western Gaza city.

Fatah movement accused Hamas armed wing al-Qassam Brigades for throwing Sweirki, who is an officer in President Mahmoud Abbas forces, from the roof of the building.

The Hamas-led interior ministry auxiliary forces denied in a leaflet sent to reporters that any of its officers were involved in killing the officer.

Right after Sweirki was killed, said the witnesses, masked militants opened fire at Mohamed Rafati, a Hamas member and Imam of a mosque in the city.

Clashes renewed, where militants from both movements erected roadblocks and tension returned to the city streets following three-week calm and agreement on an internal cease-fire.

Leaders of the rival factions and other national and Islamic groups are holding a national dialogue in Cairo to reinforce a permanent cease-fire.

On Thursday and Saturday, three Palestinians, two from Fatah and one Hamas militant were killed in heavy gunbattles in the southern Gaza Strip town of Rafah.

According to Gaza human rights foundations, more than 50 Palestinians were killed during May and June in the infighting between the two rival movements.
