Thundershowers cool Shimla

Shimla : Rain along with thunder lashed Shimla early Tuesday considerably cooling the hill station where the mercury had shot to the highest ever in a decade, over the weekend.

The intermittent showers began in the wee hours Tuesday, offering a lot of relief to local residents and thousands of holidaymakers who have descended here to escape the blistering heat of the plains.

The meteorological department here told IANS that the minimum temperature dropped to 15.2 degree Celsius Tuesday as compared to Monday's 21.2. The town recorded 28.2 mm of rainfall.

Shimla recorded a maximum of 31.5 degree Celsius and a minimum of 22.5 degree Celsius Sunday, the hottest day in twelve years.
