Islamabad : Pakistan reiterated Monday that it would pursue the proposed Iranian gas pipeline project to meet its growing energy requirements.
The comments came days after the US Assistant Secretary of State Richard Boucher renewed Washington's opposition to the project.
"Pakistan is aware of the US position on the project but Pakistan would pursue the project as it is feasible," the Pakistani Foreign Ministry spokesperson Tasnim Aslam told her weekly news briefing in Islamabad.
The Iran-Pakistan-India gas pipeline, also known as the Peace pipeline, is a proposed 2,775 km gas pipeline project to deliver natural gas from Iran to Pakistan and India. The project is expected to take three to five years to complete and would cost US$7 billion.
