New Delhi: About 15.7% of OBCs are Muslims according Minority Affairs Minister A. R. Antulay. Mr. Antulay gave this information while replying to a question in Rajya Sabha today.
He also informed that Muslims constitute 1.8% of the Indian Foreign Service.
Indian Paramilitary Forces which consist of CRPF, CISF, and BSF among others have 60,517 Muslims serving, according to the latest figure available. With a combined strength of 1.3 million personnel, Muslims have 4.66% representation in the world’s second largest paramilitary force.
Minister alos informed that Muslims make up 7.2% of the Central and State Public Sector Undertakings for the units who reported their data.
Minister’s information was based on the report of the Prime Minister’s High Level Committee on Social, Economic and Educational Status of the Muslim Community of India also known as Sachar Committee Report.
