The meeting prayed to the Almighty to shower His blessings on the souls of the martyrs and extended its heartfelt sympathies towards their families. It also prayed for the well being of the injured and their speedy recovery.

The public meeting condemned the "barbaric behaviour of the police who opened fire on the unarmed protestors."

It also demanded a time bound inquiry to identify and punish the culprits responsible for the outrage, as it demanded action against the erring police personnel.

The meeting urged the media to play a constructive role. The media should "refrain from sensationalizing the issue and instead, promote feelings of good will among the various sections of the society. There has been a deplorable trend of blaming the victims themselves for every such destructive act," said the meeting while urging the media "to seek a professional inquiry which may identify the actual culprits."

The public meeting, in a resolution adopted therein, urged the Muslims to exemplify from their behaviour, their real status of being the best community (as Islam would like them to be). It asked the Muslims to chalk out and implement a plan of action to wipe out injustice and tyranny from the country and usher in an era of justice and equity.
