Washington : A newspaper covering US Congress and its members has named an Indian American among the capital's top lobbyists.
Priya Dayananda, of consulting firm KPMG, was rated among some 25 effective lobbyists for various interests in a list titled "The best in the business" prepared by the Hill newspaper
Dayananda is a former senior staffer to three House Democrats. She is director of federal government affairs at KPMG. Prior to this, she was director of government relations at American Community Bankers (ACB). ACB represents community banks of all charter types and sizes, such as World Savings, Washington Mutual, Chevy Chase F.S.B, and Citibank.
Dayananda also worked with several members of Congress: Eddie Bernice Johnson (Dallas, Texas), Gregory Meeks (Queens, New York) and Steve Israel (Long Island, New York, News India Times, an ethnic Indian newspaper reported.
Before Capitol Hill, she worked for the National Association of Minority Contractors as their director of government affairs.
