Tiwari would undergo the shoulder surgery at the Edward Hospital under London-based orthopaedic surgeon Andrew Wallace.

"I am given the best possible support from the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) president Prasun Mukherjee. I am not in a hurry to get back on fields, rather I am now concentrating to be 100 percent fit before playing any match," Tiwari said at the airport here before boarding his flight.

He said he would catch the return flight from London May 31.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) would bear all the expenses of Tiwari's treatment.

After examining Tiwari's MRI report in Mumbai and considering his age, BCCI-appointed orthopaedic Anant Joshi earlier told that he required undergoing an arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder.

Wallace has earlier treated India skipper Rahul Dravid and his predecessor Sachin Tendulkar.

The cricketer from Kolkata's twin town of Howrah was picked up for the India one-day side in January as the 12th man for the tour opener at the Eden Gardens here against Sri Lanka.

Tiwari has an average of 96 this Ranji season and is also the highest scorer for Bengal in a Ranji season.

He hit a double century to bat Mumbai out of the league game at Kolkata, allowing Bengal for the first time in their Ranji Trophy history to inflict follow-on on Mumbai.

Tiwari has played for Customs, Kalighat and Sporting Union before appearing for the Bengal Ranji side two seasons back.
