A chain of attacks and counter-attacks on Congress members in Tamil Nadu has left the leadership of the party considerably troubled. Now a detailed report of incidents here is being sent to Gandhi.

On Oct 29, Tamil Nadu Congress president M. Krishnasamy was attacked in Keezhakaniseri village in Ramanathapuram district.

The police then said that the intended victim was not Krishnasamy but another Congress leader from the region.

On Nov 11, when the state Congress leadership was discussing the attack on Krishnasamy at its headquarters here, 20 men barged into the office of the youth Congress chief Mayura S. Jayakumar and attacked him.

Jayakumar, a supporter of central minister G.K. Vasan, filed a police complaint naming K. Vishnuprasad, Krishnasamy’s son and brother-in-law of central minister Anbumani Ramadoss, and his supporters as the attackers.

Vishnuprasad is a member of the Tamil Nadu assembly from Cheyur. He has now applied for anticipatory bail.

Vishnuprasad has also filed a complaint with city Police Commissioner Nanjil Kumaran, saying that Vasan conspired to get him into trouble.

He alleged that it was he who was attacked and that he would have been killed but for the intervention of a police officer.

Amid these charges and counter charges, Congress observer for Tamil Nadu, Arun Kumar, is now in Chennai investigating the goings on and talking to the Congress leaders in the state.
