Bangalore : Two-year-old Lakshmi Tatma, who underwent a complicated surgery to get rid off four extra limbs here last week, Wednesday had a surprise visitor, new Karanataka Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa, and a Children’s Day gift of Rs.100,000.
Yeddyurappa, accompanied by his cabinet colleague V.S. Acharya, went to the Sparsh hospital on the city’s outskirts to see Lakshmi and her parents.
After enquiring about the child’s progress from the doctors, he presented a cheque of Rs.100,000 to Lakshmi’s parents, poor labourers from Araria village in Bihar.
Doctors attending on Lakshmi told Yeddyurappa that she was progressing well and physiotherapy to help her walk will start soon, a spokesperson for the chief minister said.
The 27-hour surgery to separate Lakshmi from a parasitic conjoined twin last week had attracted international media attention.
