New Delhi : The Election Commission Friday summoned Gujarat Chief Secretary Manjula Subramaniyam to explain non-compliance of its order over posting of a senior police officer in Ahmedabad.
On Nov 15, the poll panel had ordered the transfer of three senior Gujarat police officers – Vadodara police commissioner P.C. Thakur, Joint Commissioner Ahmedabad P.K. Jha and Superintendent of Police S.P. Anand.
The Election Commission announced Wednesday that Satish Sharma would replace P.K. Jha.
According to official sources, the poll panel issued the order due to “non-compliance” of its direction by the state government in respect of posting of Satish Sharma as new Joint Commissioner in place of Jha.
The panel has summoned Gujarat’s top bureaucrat for a meeting with the full commission at 11 a.m. on Sunday.
Gujarat will have a two-phase poll on Dec 11 and 16.
