Colombo : Sri Lanka Air Force fighter jets bombed a rebel satellite communication centre in the northern part of the country, a military spokesman said Sunday.
The post was located in Dharmapuram, Kilinochchi, 370 km north of the capital.
The attack came two days ahead of Tamil rebel chief Velupillai Prabhakaran’s annual address, which is broadcast on television and radio world wide through satellite.
Prabhakaran, who marks his 53rd birthday Monday, makes an address annually considered to be the policy statement of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE).
