Around 39,000 filled the refurbished Kotla, which can hold around 45,000 people. Barring the east block, the stadium was chock-a-block with spectators creating a euphoric environment.

The security officials manning the gates had a tough time handling the crowd. For the first time in four days, there were serpentine queues outside the stadium.

India’s opening batsman Dinesh Karthik was found fielding with a Global Positioning System (GPS) band on his right arm on the fourth day of the first Test match against Pakistan.

The band calculates the number of kilometers a cricketer runs on the field during a day. During the one-day series fast bowler Rudra Pratap Singh bowled with a similar band on his left arm at Gwalior. And the band recorded 14.5 km. During one of the ODI matches in the series against Australia, Ricky Ponting registered around 16.5 km.

If it was Harry Potter hats that were in great demand Saturday, then Sunday was the turn of colourful wigs of all sorts at the Kotla.

From pink to the regular black, spectators donned wigs of all sorts to attract the attention of Television cameraman. The Pakistani cricketers were also not behind and some of them, who were sitting on the boundary, were seen playing with a curly wig.
