Besides this, the union government is also demanded to not keep mum after Tehelka’s sting operation against Modi and other murderers and along with it, impart justice to Muslim women who have been dealt with oppression and tyranny during riots in Mumbai and Gujarat. These views were expressed by national president of Bharatiya Muslim Mahila Andolan’s Raziya Patel. She was addressing a large crowd gathered at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi.

On this occasion, Andolan’s UP convener Naz Raza, Rajasthan’s Nishat Aapa, Maharashtra’s Yasimeen Sheikh, Karnataka’s Naghma, Orissa’s Sitara Begam, West Bengal’s Zuleikha, Jharkhand’s Sultana Prveen, Bihar’s Akhtari Begam, Tamil Nadu’s Kamila, Gujarat’s Noor Jahan and others also participated in the demonstration. Besides them, West Bengal secretary of Nari Vishwa Kalyan Kendra Raheema Khatoon, president of Lucknow’s Peace Foundation Meraj Khan, Natish Hasan and president of Jalalpur’s Indian Social Organization Muntazir Qa’im also participated.

Taking to press, Ms. Raziya Patel told a delegation of their Andolan today met with vice-president of India Hamid Ansari and presented a memorandum demanding that fast-track court should be formed to decide all cases of Mumbai and Gujarat riots at earliest and proper security should be arranged for the witnesses of these cases, people affected by Mumbai and Gujarat riots should be paid in compensation, all culprits mentioned in Sri Krishna Commission Report should be punished, Sachar Committee recommendations should be implemented and social, economic and political rights of Indian Muslims should be protected. Responding to it, the vice-president assured that action shall be taken on their demands after due deliberations. He said presenting one’s demands becomes necessary in a democracy and, therefore, efforts are necessary.

People present in the demonstration unanimously said although they ranked second in the country so far head-count is concerned but the oppression and tyranny against them has become unbearable whereas the government has rendered Muslims quite feeble at every level as if under certain conspiracy. Today, Muslims are weak at political, economic, social and educational levels, for which the government is responsible. The large gathering present here appealed the union government to accept their demands so that they would not have to demonstrate further.
