Baghdad, Nov 29 (Prensa Latina) The US Central Command in Iraq Thursday announced the killing of one of its soldiers in the Iraqi capital, bringing the number of American servicemen killed in the Arab country since war began in March 2003 to 3,879.
In a brief release, the US military said that the killing, possibly staged by members of the resistance, occurred in west Baghdad, on Wednesday.
With the recent death, Washington has lost 35 soldiers so far this month in the Iraqi territory.
The American Central Command also reported on Thursday that one of its caravans was attacked in southeast of Baghdad two days ago, near the banks of Tigris river.
Apache helicopters were used in the clash with the insurgents, taking the lives of at least three of them.
Meanwhile, sources from the Iraqi Ministry of Interior confirmed on Thursday that 11 civilians were wounded in roadside bomb attacks in Baghdad.
Also Thursday, police said gunmen shot dead the president of a district council in the northern Iraqi city of Kirkur.
