The Dortmund goals were scored by Tinga and Giovanni Federico while Marcin Mieciel replied for the visitors Friday night.

Dortmund coach Thomas Doll, who has been criticised for being too soft with his players, gave 19-year-old Cameroonian Patrick Njambe and Christopher Noethe their first start in the senior side.

The home side took the lead in the 17th minute through Brazilian midfielder Tinga, after former Germany defender Christian Woerns headed a Dede free-kick goalwards.

Bochum goalkeeper, Jan Lastuvka failed to hold onto the ball and Tinga managed to push the ball over the line.

The visitors somewhat fortuitously equalised with their first shot in anger when Stanislav Sestak went into the Dortmund area and played a back heel pass to Mieciel, whose shot gave goalkeeper Roman Weidenfelder no chance ten minutes from the break.

Worse was to follow in the 59th minute as Woerns received his marching orders for a second bookable offence.

However, a ten-man Dortmund took the lead in the 70th minute after a corner through 27-year-old Italian Federico, who unleashed a powerful shot from 15 metres to give his side victory.

The win sees Dortmund go to 10th in the table while Bochum are at 14th spot.
