Kabul : A suicide car bombing targeting a convoy of U.S. military in the Afghan capital Kabul Saturday morning killed at least three persons, including one American, and injured nine others, an official at the press department of Afghan Interior Ministry said.
The attack occurred at 8:20 a.m. local time at the busy road linking Kabul International Airport to the fortified U.S. embassy.
“Two U.S. vehicles and two vehicles of Afghan civilians were damaged in the bloody incident,” the official told Xinhua but refused to be named saying press release will be issued on the subject soon.
No U.S. military officials were immediately available to comment.
Moreover, Xinhua reporter at the site saw one dead body of American soldier and an injured soldier carried by the troops.
On the hand, Afghan Minister for Public Health Mohammad Amin Fatimi who visited the site of the explosion put the number of injured men nine and adding one of the injured men had succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
It is the third suicide attack against security forces in the capital Kabul over the past 10 days.
Suicide attacks which targeted personnel of Afghan Defense Ministry and Afghan National police on Sept. 29 and Oct. 2 respectively left nearly 50 people dead and injured almost similar number.
Taliban insurgents who vowed to continue war against Afghan and international forces based in Afghanistan claimed to have prepared hundreds of suicide bombers to carry out deadly attacks.
