As part of its corporate social responsibility, the company has joined hands with some NGOs and local communities to revive the water bodies through rainwater harvesting and recharging groundwater in areas hit by scarcity.

Outlining the roadmap for water conservation and community development across the country, HCCBL CEO John Ustas said the subsidiary has set an ambitious target for achieving zero water balance in ground water usage by 2009 with multi-pronged water management.

“To conserve one of the main natural resources, we have embarked on a four-fold approach for efficient use of water to achieve zero water balance by reducing, reusing, recycling and recharging at all our 29 bottling plants over the next two years,” Ustas told reporters Saturday at a felicitation of the award-winning units of the company here, about 30 km from Hyderabad.
