Tehran : Iranian border with Iraqi Kurdistan will re-open beginning on Saturday, Under-Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council for Internal Affairs Muhammad Jaafari said on Saturday.
He said that the decision was made after Iraqi Kurdish officials discussed border security with Iranian officials in Tehran.
Jaafari said that Iraqi Kurdish officials agreed to take practical measures to monitor the border to prevent terrorists from crossing into Iranian territory from Iraq. He said that the next round of talks with the Iraqi Kurdish officials will be held on October 18 to study the practical steps to stop cross-border movements of terrorists.
Iranian-Iraqi borders had witnessed in recent months clashes between Iranian security forces and Kurdish separatist groups.
