Six troopers die in cylinder blast

Srinagar : Six troopers were killed in an explosion caused by a cooking gas cylinder in an army camp in Baramulla in north Kashmir Thursday.

A senior police officer said the blast occurred in the canteen of the 102 Engineers Regiment of the army at Hamray Pattan village on the Srinagar-Muzaffarbad highway, 45 km from here. Ten people were injured.

“The blast damaged the canteen building located inside the camp extensively,” the officer said.

The injured, including two civilians, were taken to hospital where doctors said most of them had serious burn injuries.
