Chasing India’s 187, the home side were anchored by an unbeaten century plus stand for the fourth wicket between Kevin Pietersen and skipper Paul Collingwood as they reached 188 for three in 36.2 overs.

Earlier, wicket-keeper Mahendra Singh Dhoni topscored with 50 to help India reach a fighting 187 off 47.3 overs. The Indians were at the receiving end of two questionable decisions and they never recovered from the setbacks.

Pakistani umpire Aleem Dar declared both skipper Rahul Dravid and maestro Sahcin Tendulkar caught behind off the bowling of Andrew Flintoff, when the ball seemed to have completely missed the bat on its way into the gloves of Matt Prior.
