“However, Tehran would reconsider its cooperation with the agency, if another (UN Security Council) resolution was issued against Iran,” Hosseini said during his weekly press conference.

Commenting on the latest statements of the agency’s Secretary General Mohamed ElBaradei, the spokesman added that the secretary general’s remarks were in a way defending his policies and the status of the agency.

“The US is trying to impose its policies through international bodies such as the IAEA and this is the reason behind irrelevant US interferences,” Hosseini said criticizing US policy aimed at undermining international bodies.

In addition to making efforts to undermine international organizations, Hosseini complained, “The US also interferes in other states bilateral relations and their regional cooperation.” Noting that US was trying to politicize Iran’s peaceful nuclear activities, the spokesman said those efforts are made while Iran’s peaceful nuclear program “is completely a legal and technical issue.” “US is unhappy with the latest agreements reached by Iran and agency,” Hosseini said.

As for Iran’s expectations from the IAEA’s Board of Governors, the spokesman expressed hope that the board’s decision would correspond with the existing realities.

“Given the latest positions of the agency’s secretary general and his documented report on Iran nuclear program, Tehran hopes that the board’s decision on Iran nuclear case will be based on existing realities,” Hosseini said.
