Islamabad : The Pakistani security forces Sunday killed at least 10 militants in Pakistan’s South Waziristan tribal area, TV channel Dawn News reported.
Army spokesman Major-General Waheed Arshad confirmed that militants attacked a military convoy, sparking a retaliatory operation from the security forces that left at least 10 militants dead in South Waziristan, Dawn News said.
Arshad also said over 200 Pakistani soldiers were still being held by a militant group of the Mehsud tribe in South Waziristan and that the government has been making efforts to secure their release.
Meanwhile, militants in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) Sunday blew up a check post and kidnapped two security personnels, the news channel reported. The militants kidnapped the two soldiers in the Charmung area of Bajaur district of FATA.
