Bangalore : Former test batsman Brijesh Patel, who is secretary of the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), Tuesday said he had no plans to quit the post because his group had lost majority in the association elections.

“No. I don’t think so,” he told IANS when asked about the speculation that he may resign as the rival camp headed by Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wodiyar, son of former Mysore Maharaja, bagged 13 of the 24 seats in the association’s managing committee in Sunday’s polls.

Wodiyar, who levelled charges of financial irregularities against Patel, won the president’s post, defeating former test player Gundappa Vishwanath.

Patel, secretary of the KSCA for the last nine years, retained his post but his group lost majority.

Patel issued a legal notice to Wodiyar two days before the elections, asking him to apologise or face a defamation suit.

“Law will take its course,” Patel said when asked whether he intended to pursue the case since Wodiyar had now become president.

Wodiyar, however, said he would like to use the vast experience of Patel for the smooth conduct of the One-Day International against Australia in Bangalore on Sep 29. “This is the first priority,” he added.
