“No lawyer of the high court appeared in the court of the chief justice on Friday,” said Subodh Dubey, a lawyer of the court.

According to the protesting lawyers, the chief justice Thursday told senior advocate Manjul Prasad not to appear in his court.

The chief justice reportedly pointed out that there were differences in an affidavit filed earlier by Prasad in a case and one he filed Thursday.

As Prasad replied with arguments, the chief justice reportedly told the lawyer: “Do not appear before me”.

Taking the matter seriously, the Advocates Association of High Court called an emergency meeting Thursday evening and decided to boycott the court of the chief justice Friday.

“This is not the first time that the chief justice has humiliated a lawyer in the court. We will chalk out future strategy in a meeting on Monday. Lawyers should be treated in a dignified manner,” said Mahesh Tewary, president of the association.
