Islamabad, Sep 18 (Xinhua) Pakistani President General Pervez Musharraf will doff his military uniform after re-election and before taking oath as president again, his lawyer told the Supreme Court Tuesday.
General Musharraf’s current term as president expires Nov 15, Sharifuddin Pirzada told the court, which is hearing petitions challenging the holding of two offices by Musharraf.
Musharraf will relinquish charge of the army if re-elected as president in the coming presidential elections, Pirzada said.
Government officials said the presidential election will be held between Sep 15 and Oct 15, but the election commission has not announced the schedule for presidential polls yet.
