Srinagar : Two Indian Army soldiers and two civilians were wounded in a fierce gunfight with militants in a north Kashmir village Monday, police said.
Troops of anti-insurgency Rashtriya Rifles (RR), acting on specific information, surrounded a house in Bomai village, 56 km from here in Baramulla district, in the morning.
“The militants opened fire at the RR troops. The fire was returned, and in the gunfight two soldiers were wounded. They were evacuated to hospital for treatment,” said a senior police officer.
Two civilians were also injured in the shoot-out and were taken to the Sopore district hospital.
The operation was still in progress, an army officer said in the evening.
