Baghdad, Sep 18 (Xinhua) At least ten people were killed and 27 wounded in several explosions across Baghdad Tuesday, sources said.
Two car blasts ripped through a parking lot near a health ministry building in central Baghdad killing seven people and wounding 20, said an interior ministry source.
The bombs detonated in a quick succession at about 9.30 a.m. in Bab al-Mu’adham area, the source said on condition of anonymity. Dozens of civilian cars were damaged.
Elsewhere, bomb attacks killed three people and wounded seven in eastern and southern Baghdad, according to the police.
“A car bomb parked near an intersection in the Zayouna neighbourhood in eastern Baghdad detonated in the morning, killing two civilians and wounding five,” the police said.
Separately, a roadside bomb went off near a police patrol in Baghdad’s southern neighbourhood of Za’faraniyah, killing a pedestrian and injuring two.
Violence continues infesting Baghdad’s streets despite the US army’s surge in the war-torn country in a bid to rein in the unbridled insurgency.
