Algiers : Algerian Industry and Investment Promotion Minister Abdelhamid Temmar is leading an Algerian delegation to take part in the First Conference of African Ministers of Industry (CAMI) being held in Midrand, South Africa.
The two-day conference, which ends Thursday, will gather inputs for the preparation of an African Industrialization master Plan to be submitted to the next African Union (AU) Summit, scheduled to be held in January, the ministry said in a Press statement here.
The meeting, convened jointly by the AU and the United Nations, will focus on the broad issues relating to industrial growth and sustainable development in Africa.
It is mainly about the regional programme of promotion, improvement of powering industrial growth in Africa.
“Industrial diversification and economic growth for sustainable development in the continent” will be the meeting’s other major theme.
The conference will also touch on the challenge of energy security for Africa and the respect of standard compliance and conformity assessment for the development of sustainable trade in Africa.
According to the ministry, the conference’s conclusions would be submitted as proposals in the next summit of AU Heads of State and Government on industrialization.
