Singh in his petition says that police in Doranda police station in Ranchi last week refused to lodge a First Information Report (FIR) against Karunanidhi. The lawyer then approached Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) M.S Bhatia who also did not entertain his request. When police failed to act, Singh filed a petition in the high court.

Singh has demanded that the Tamil Nadu chief minister be charged with a criminal case and the court should supervise the investigation of the case.
