Dravid not only has the highest individual innings (222 against New Zealand in 2003-04) played at this venue, but the former India captain also has the highest Test match aggregate (295 = 222+73). And, now, he is set to break the all time aggregate record at this stadium.

Dravid, who has a tally of 431 runs in four Tests, needs 43 more to break Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 473 runs in six matches. His task has become easier as Tendulkar is not playing the second Test because of a groin injury.

Captain Anil Kumble holds the bowling record with 35 wickets in six Tests and the leg-spinner, along with off-spinner Harbhajan Singh and former captain Kapil Dev, have the second best match tally with 10-wicket hauls. Former Test spinner Venkatapathy Raju, now a national selector, holds the record with 11 for 125 against Sri Lanka in 1993-94.

Harbhajan Singh had bagged 10 for 141 against Sri Lanka in 2005-06 and Kumble took 10 for 233 against England in 2001-03. Both have an opportunity to break Raju’s 23-year-old record.
