Nagpur : Eminent ayurveda physician Gopalkrishna Waghralkar died at his home here Tuesday after a prolonged illness. He was 50.
He had developed serious complications since his visit to an African country a year-and-a-half ago, when he was administered the mandatory vaccination for yellow fever. He fell unconscious within hours of taking the vaccination and never recovered after that.
Author of several books on ayurveda, a prolific columnist and recipient of a number of awards, Waghralkar was a visiting professor at many overseas universities.
Waghralkar was to have been conferred with the prestigious Nagpur Bhushan award this week, an annual award.
