Sharjah to build houses for poor in Sri Lanka

Sharjah : The government of Sharjah, the third largest emirate of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), is to construct a housing complex in Sri Lanka which will accommodate some 500 homeless and poor of the island.

Sri Lankan Minister of Labour Relations and Manpower Athauda Seneviratne, who was here on an official visit Monday, discussed the project with Auqaf Jamal Al Taraifi, director general of Sharjah Secretariat General, WAM news agency reported Tuesday.

UAE Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi has instructed building of 500 houses for poor families in Sri Lanka.

The minister praised the ruler for extending humanitarian assistance to Sri Lanka.
