New Delhi : A Lucknow-based advocate has moved the Supreme Court, demanding direction to the government to provide special planes for the chief justice of India and those of state high courts.
Advocate Pandey contended that lack of special planes at the disposal of the chief of the central and states’ judiciary to ferry them around in the country or the state impinges upon the judicial independence.
The advocate also sought the Special Protection Group’s security cover – the highest category of security arrangement – for the chief justice of India.
The advocate also demanded a high category of security cover, known as Z-Plus, for the chief justice of the state high courts.
Pandey approached the apex court Monday after the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court dismissed his demands recently, saying there was no public interest involved in his purported public interest lawsuit.
