Gaza : Israeli forces killed a Palestinian farmer in a shootout with Palestinian militants during an ongoing military operation in the south of the Gaza Strip on Thursday, a local police spokesman said.
The spokesman also said that several militants from Hamas and Islamic Jihad were injured in the clash, while several Palestinians were detained for questioning.
Eyewitnesses reported that Israeli ground forces and at least five armored vehicles were involved in the operation in the al-Qarrara village on the outskirts of the city of Khan Younis.
Meanwhile, the International Middle East Media Center reported another Israeli army raid in which five Palestinians from the north of the Gaza Strip were detained in the Sifa area, to the north of the town of Beit Lahiya.
Eyewitnesses reported that a dozen tanks and a bulldozer entered the village and razed farm lands in the area.
