Women cell of Rajasthan Jamaat-e-Islami Hind demands ban on liquor

Jaipur: The women cell of the Rajasthan unit of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind has demanded a blanket ban on liquor in the state.

Addressing a press conference on 2nd April, Ishrat Hayat, organizer of the cell, and Muneera Khanam, coordinator of west zone of the Jamaat, said the women members of the organization visited several districts in the state and observed the real conditions of women. They said alcohol was one of the main reasons behind the collapsing family system. They alleged that the state BJP government was promoting alcohol business in the state.

They also expressed concern over widening gap in male-female ratio in the state population. Because of negligence of administration, foeticide was rise in the state, they said. Their state-wide visit was part of the state Jamaat’s 10-day program on women’s rights.
