Baghdad : At least 37 people were killed Friday and 52 wounded in a suicide attack and US air raids in Baquba, some 60 km north of the Iraqi capital, police sources said.
A suicide bomber killed 16 people in the funeral procession of an Iraqi policeman, who had been shot dead Thursday, in the Saediya area in southern Baquba, the police said.
In total, 29 people were seriously injured in the attack and the death toll is expected to rise, according to the police.
According to police sources, US helicopters struck a location of suspected militants in Baquba’s Moqdadiya area in the early hours of Friday.
The air raids killed 20 suspected militants and injured another 23, the sources said.
