Apart from Bhambri, Samip Mehta and Saurabh Singh are the other members of the squad that will be led by non-playing captain Kawaljeet Singh for the home tie to be played April 28-May 3.

AITA also announced a three-member junior Fed Cup team for the away tie starting May 5 in Bangkok. It will be led by non-playing captain Radhika Tulpule Kanitkar and includes Rashmi Teltumbde, Rishika Sunkara and Ratnika Batra.

The teams were selected after a trial camp at the National Tennis Academy in Gurgaon, which was attended by the top 10 junior players of the nation, an AITA release said.

However, both Bhambri and Teltumbde were exempted from the selection procedure since they were highly ranked in the international circuit and were playing at the higher category tournament at the time of selection.

The AITA said the team, which participated in the ITF Asian Championship Group I, has more or less been retained for the World Junior Tennis competition with the exception of Ratnika Batra who has replaced Vaidehi Bhagwat. The tournament will be held in China March 14-20 for boys and April 21-27 for the girls.
