Baghdad : Roadside bombs and mortar attacks rocked the Iraqi capital on Monday and wounded 18 people, an Interior Ministry source said.
“A roadside bomb struck in the morning near a police patrol near the al-Rubaie Intersection in Baghdad’s eastern neighborhood of Zaiyouna, wounding two policemen and two bystanders, ” the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
A police vehicle was damaged by the attack, the source said.
Later in the day, another roadside bomb went off in the same area near another police patrol, injuring three policemen and three civilians, he said.
A police vehicle was also damaged by the attack, he added.
A third roadside bomb, apparently missed its target of another police patrol in Baghdad’s eastern neighborhood of Mashtal, detonated and wounded five civilians, he said.
In a separate incident, two mortar rounds struck the building of the former Iraqi Air Force Club in Baghdad’s central district of Karrada, injuring three civilians, he added.
