Dhaka : Bangladesh Monday condemned the assassination of Sri Lankan Senior Minister Jeyaraj Fernandopulle by suspected terrorists.
“It was a cowardly act of terrorism that we strongly condemn. Our prayers are with the families of Fernandopulle and others who lost their lives in the incident,” Bangladeshi caretaker government Foreign Adviser Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury said in a message.
He also expressed his sympathies to the Sri Lankan government and the families of those killed in the attack.
A suspected rebel suicide bomber attacked the opening ceremony of a marathon outside Sri Lanka’s capital Colombo on Sunday, killing a dozen people including the highways minister and a former Olympic athlete.
